Yard Maple

This photo was simple. I wanted to capture the maple in the yard that I had shaped when it was young. When I chose to save it a few years back and cut the other baby trees that were beginning to grow around it in a not-so-tended spot at the edge of the yard, it was only 6 ft. Today it is at least 12 ft. Now it is just a beautiful tree year around! I stood about 15 feet away and had the camera set on landscape mode. The sun was almost to setting behind me.I took the shot over the tops of the young blueberry bushes.

Lazy Pasture

I found this lazy pasture scene in GA when I was out driving a week ago on October 9. I was using the sport mode because I was taking shots of different farm animals and animals move unpredictably. I was just sitting in my car snapping the pictures and enjoying the country scenes. I cut this photo a little to focus in on the tree, horse and pony.

Sunlight Colors

Yesterday I had fun walking around the yard with the dog enjoying the different fall changes there. The sumac tree in the backyard was blazing! I left my camera on the landscape mode to snap this photo. The sunlight through the leaves is truly a sight to see!

10-07 Mushroom

My dad, the dog, and I were out for a short walk one evening last week and we came across these fat mushrooms. “You ought to take some pictures of those,” Dad suggested.
After taking a second look I agreed! So the next day I took the dog out the same way and brought my camera along. It was in mid-afternoon and the sun was still high in the sky so I didn’t know if the white mushrooms would just wash out in a photo depending on the angle. I put the camera on the close-up mode and took pictures from several angles. Eventually, I thought backlight would be best and as soon as I came to this angle I knew I would have a good shot! Sure enough! This is a keeper!

My Camera

Now, it is obvious that the camera plays a big part in taking great photos. There are many top of the line cameras that I would love to have. I would love to have an exceptional telephoto lens. At this time in my life, though, I have decided I should not spend big bucks on cameras. Someday I probably will upgrade, yet the camera I now use is one I highly recommend! It is the Nikon Coolpix L3. I have used other cameras of a similar price, but I really like my Nikon! It is a super camera!! I am very pleased with the quality of photography that this camera can produce. The photos you will find on this blog in the coming days are from my Nikon Coolpix unless I otherwise note.
